Reverend Julio Orozco Jr. On How The Account Of Abraham & Isaac Points To The Cross

Reverend Orozco continues his odyssey in the Old Testament to show us how the story of the Messiah Christ is embedded in every account that has been recorded for us. This time, it’s  the very well known story of Abraham and Isaac recorded in the 22nd chapter of Genesis. Pastor Orozco exposes the parallels between the account of Abraham & Isaac and that of Jesus in the new Testament. I will invite you to listen to the message in its entirety. The Sting Of Pride & The Lord’s Discipline

Originally posted on Tayibs.com The 32nd chapter of the book of Job begins with , “So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes” I’ve  purposely avoided the book of Job because I wasn’t ready to deal with the concept of suffering. I failed to recognize that the story wasn’t only about suffering, but about the connection between pride and suffering, the Lord’s discipline and its righteous fruits. But dodging  reading about suffering didn’t guarantee that  I wouldn’t experience  the reality of hardships. The last few years have been marked with one trial after the other, and it isRead More →

Agape love on Valentines day

Originally posted on ASH   Inside my Church, my friend Jamie and I decorated our outreach bulletin board to reflect the upcoming holiday, Valentine’s Day. This is a day celebrated by many to show love and affection to our loved ones . While this is true, I had to ask myself how much more does the Heavenly Father want to shower us with His love . The Bible tells us in 1 John 4:19 ,”We love him, because he first loved us.” Why is knowing the love of God important?  Have you felt lonely or unloved on Valentine’s Day, wondering why you don’t have a date toRead More →

Tonight we focused on the different types of loves described in the Bible (Storge, Philia, Eros, and Agape) and talked about how we show these types of loves every day of our lives. We shared with one another which type of love we personally struggle with and why. We were able to pray for each other and expand a little more on God’s unconditional love. We ended our night by reading Ephesians 3:17-19 and acknowledging the depth of God’s love. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keepRead More →

Have you wondered what  different names us, humans, have used to call on the Lord? Whether it’s to call on Him in prayer or to reference Him in conversations, or describing how great God is, the Bible is filled with many different names that reference the Lord. Well, there is a song I came across on YouTube by a talented and gifted woman, by the name of Elihana Elia. Her heart is so filled with worship and the song below describes exactly that. The song features the sounds of different instruments that were played in the Bible. *Flashback! When I first heard the song, it tookRead More →

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God

Originally posted on Tayibs.com Without faith it is impossible to please God, because He who comes to Him must believe that He exists and He rewards those who earnestly seek after Him. ( Hebrews 11:6) I have heard myself and several people say that they want a faith that can move mountains. I’ve  realized by the grace of God that I didn’t have a clue what walking and living by faith really meant. I don’t claim to fully understand what faith really is  but I believe the Lord in His grace has given me some insight on the meaning of faith, and I’m under obligationRead More →

love

For this month of February, we are focusing on the meaning of Love and what it represents and means to us. After playing a round of UNO, we started on the topic in a Hot Potato approach. As we read in 1 John 4:16-18, we are taught as well as reminded of a fact, that God is love. That whomever lives in love lives in God and God lives in them. As we asked ourselves, why is it so hard to love our enemy & why does God wants us to do it, a really good statement stood out: What is love without forgiveness? ItRead More →

Rev Julio Orozco Sr. On Hoe To Share The Gospel Effectively Like Jesus

In the sermon delivered on Sunday February the 3rd, Rev Julio Orozco Sr. gave some very practical advice on the do(s) and don’t(s) of sharing the good news. The stories of the gospels where he drew his inspiration from came out of  John 3 and 4, the instances where Jesus had encounters with two individuals with diametrically opposed backgrounds,  Nicodemus and the Samaritan woman. These two accounts demonstrated  how Jesus met each one of these folks  where they were. As each one of us is transformed by the renewed life in Jesus, it becomes a necessary result to share this good news with a spirituallyRead More →
