Children Sunday school: Why Are We To Pray?
As Christians, we are called to commune with God through prayer. Prayer is how we build our relationship with God and seek His guidance for our lives. Through prayer, we can express our joys and sorrows, ask for His help in times of trouble, and give thanks for His many blessings. This month in Sunday school, our teacher Vanessa is teaching the little ones the importance of prayer.
Why Pray?
On September 11th, we learned why it is so important to pray. When we pray, we are talking with God and getting His direction for our lives. Scripture tells us that if we ask God for wisdom, He will give it to us generously (James 1:5). And when we are going through tough times, He promises to be our strength (Psalm 46:1). We can also use prayer as an opportunity to give thanks for all the good things He has done for us (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Simply put, prayer is a way to develop our relationship with God and receive His guidance for our lives.
How to Pray?
On September 18th, 2022 the Kids learned that God does not want us to pray like robots. He wants us to pray heart-felt prayers. He wants us to tell Him our desires, our fears, our hopes, and wants us to sing songs of joy to Him when we are happy. Offering prayers before meals and bedtime is a good thing , but more importantly God wants to hear from us frequently. He desires to be a part of our lives, to console us when we are sad, to strengthen us when we are afraid, and to laugh with us when we are happy. God will give our lives true meaning and purpose. We must incorporate Him into our daily lives by reading His Word, the Bible, by seeking Him throughout the day incessantly. (Scripture used: Jeremiah 29:11-13)
