Is The God Of the Bible A Cosmic Bully? Genesis 22:1-12

As we start the New Year, many of us have lots of resolutions that we hope to accomplish. We here at Grace Community Church aim to open the year with a review of our core values, and one of those is to love God completely. But do we really understand what it means to give ourselves wholly and fully to God? In Genesis 22 there is a powerful passage where God asks Abraham to make a sacrifice — his son Isaac — as an offering. This has been seen by critics as proof that The Lord is some kind of cosmic bully.

Reverend Julio will unpack Genesis 22 for us  and explain how this passage actually speaks deeply about the great love of God and not merely serves as fodder for criticism from outsiders. Let’s take this opportunity to open our hearts and minds further towards the love of God.
