What Is Biblical Peace?

As we find ourselves in the second week of Advent, our focus this morning turns towards the word peace. The concept of peace has been thrown around so loosely  and diluted to such an extent that its original meaning has been obscured. We start our exploration with the book of Isaiah, which opens with a grim picture of the Israelites at war with God, having abandoned their spiritual obligations.

In the eighth chapter of Isaiah, we see the prophet admonishing King Ahaz for his choices in seeking counsel, further exemplifying the darkness that had enveloped Israel. However, as we move on to Isaiah 9, we encounter an embodiment of true peace – the Messiah. He proclaims in the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”

So, what then is the essence of biblical peace? Today, Daniel Orozco will illuminate this topic in his sermon.
